A single program installs everything: IRC server, services, bot and database. You download it here, and it checks what it fetches by itself.
OverScript — the desktop client
To take part in the network. Nothing to install on the server side.
This website’s chat runs in the browser and asks for nothing. OverScript is the desktop app: it remembers your servers, keeps your history, and updates itself.

| OverScript — Linux, no installation | 125 MiB | Download |

Windows says “Unknown publisher”? That is normal and harmless: our apps are not signed with a paid certificate. SmartScreen warns you on first launch — click More info, then Run anyway.
To check that the file has not been tampered with, compare its SHA-256 hash (below) with the one PowerShell gives you: Get-FileHash <file> -Algorithm SHA256. The two must be identical.

Systems missing from this list are not offered yet: this website’s chat, on the other hand, works everywhere and asks for nothing.
Install the network
This part only concerns people setting up their own server.
Installer
823.9 KiB — updated on 19/10/2026
This is the version to use. It downloads its components from this website. The website and panel archive is checked against the hash published here, and the installation stops if they do not match.
curl -fsSLO https://service-overtchat.hd.free.fr/dl/Bootstrap/overtchat-setup.sh
chmod +x overtchat-setup.sh
./overtchat-setup.sh
dc4867af6612c682fad1b9a394a8c1d08d26c3bca3f93bf97d879651ca916f11
There is only one file. This download is already the plain-text shell script: you can read it before running it, and nothing is compiled or hidden. The address ?p=dl&f=setup-dev, found in old links and bookmarks, serves exactly the same file — this page has just compared the two hashes, and they are identical.
If you modify it, its hash no longer matches the one published above, and the installation is no longer the one we distribute: troubleshooting is then up to you.
From Windows — Overtchat Setup
A graphical app that installs and runs the network, with no command line.
Overtchat Setup (formerly the “Launcher”) does the same job as the installer above, but from a window: it installs the network on this computer (WSL) or on a remote server (SSH), then starts, stops and monitors the services.

Why a hash rather than an encrypted file. An encrypted script has to be able to decrypt itself in order to run: so it carries its own key, and hands over whatever it is asked to anyone who knows how to ask. A hash hides nothing — it attests. It states publicly what the genuine file looks like, which a tampered file cannot imitate.
What is checked automatically today: the website and panel archive. The installer compares its hash with the one published here, and stops if they differ — it even asks for your explicit consent if the manifest cannot be reached, and gives up by default.
The bot modules and those of the loan bot are checked the same way: each file is compared with its hash published in the manifest, and refused if it differs; a file whose hash the manifest does not publish is installed with a warning. The full manifest is public.
Bot modules
31 files, served from the working repository — there is no separate copy that could go stale.
