Legal notice

Who publishes this website, who hosts it, who owns its texts and its code, and what you can ask about your data.

This is a translation: in case of any discrepancy, the French version prevails.

1. Publisher

This website and the network it presents are published by SerVuS — a pseudonym, also written SerVuS033 —, a private individual, in a non-professional capacity. He is the publication director.

To reach him: the contact form, or the address service.overtchat@free.fr.

2. Hosting

The website and the IRC network are self-hosted: they run on a personal computer belonging to the publisher, in France. No hosting provider is involved; the publisher is also the host.

Internet access is provided by the operator Free, which also provides the website’s address, service-overtchat.hd.free.fr.

3. Intellectual property

The project’s terms of use are set by the LICENSE file, which comes with the distributed code. In short:

  • The code — IRC server, services, panel, scripts — is published under the MIT license: you may read it, copy it, modify it, redistribute it and use it, including commercially.
  • The website’s texts, this page included, the network’s identity — the names “Overtchat”, “Service-Overtchat” and “IriX”, those of its pseudo-clients, the logo, the visual identity and the colors — and the operating data are protected by copyright, all rights reserved. They may not be reproduced, adapted, translated or distributed, in whole or in part, without prior written permission.
  • Components written by others each keep their own license: see the third-party licenses.

4. Personal data

The controller of personal data is the publisher, SerVuS.

What the network and the website keep, why and for how long is set out in the code of conduct, in section 10, “Data kept” — including what the website keeps in your browser: cookies and local storage. Private messages and video calls have their own sections (11 and 12).

5. Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, and to object to its processing.

  • You can delete your account yourself, from the network, without asking anyone: the steps, and what remains after the deletion, are described in the code of conduct, section 10.
  • For any other request, write through the contact form, stating the nickname concerned.
  • If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).
