The commands
on the network

A command is typed either in a channel, preceded by “!”, or as a private message to one of the network’s services. Each table gives the command, where to type it and what it does.

You are seeing the commands open to everyone, sent privately to the services. Sign in to your site account to see the channel “!” commands and those of your rank.

27 commands shown in this view. The rank is checked by the service when the command is typed: this page neither grants nor removes any right.

!

In a channel

Preceded by “!” and typed in a channel where OverTchat is present. It acts on that channel.

Shown once you are signed in to your site account.

✦

In private to a service

Sent as a private message to one of the network’s five services, each for its own area.

/msg OverNick REGISTER password

No bot in private any more

IriX, the network’s former robot, has been stopped since 18 October 2026. Your account and your channel ranks are managed with OverNick.

Hierarchy

The ranks

From weakest to strongest: each rank also opens the commands of the ranks below it. For commands that act on a channel, voice and operator only count on the channel where they were given to you; administrator, owner and network operator count everywhere.

RankWhat it requiresCommands shown
Everyone No account required: anyone on the network 27
Registered member A registered nickname, identified on the network —
Voice The voice rank; to act on a channel, it must have been given to you on that channel —
Channel operator The operator rank; to act on a channel, it must have been given to you on that channel —
Channel administrator Granted by the network team; it counts on every channel —
Channel owner Granted by the network team, above administrator; it counts on every channel —
Network operator A member of the network team, connected as an operator AND identified under their nickname — one without the other is not enough —

Commands of ranks you do not hold are not shown.

Services

In private to a service

You write to the service in a private message: /msg, its name, then the command. Each has its own area; the common commands answer at all of them.

ServiceWhat it does
OverTchat Channel moderation and management
OverHub Network view, counters, globops
OverNick Registration and identification
OverBot Bots, ops and service messages
OverWeb Counters for the web interface

The five services are run by OverCore, the program that brings them to life on the network. Its own nickname, OverCore, only answers the common commands.

These former commands no longer do anything: typed in a channel, OverTchat answers with a pointer; sent to IriX, stopped since 18 October 2026, nothing answers any more. The last column says what to do instead.

Passwords and operator access

No password is kept in clear text. The services only keep a salted fingerprint of it (sha512crypt, 100,000 rounds), at registration as at verification; an older format is converted at the first identification. Neither the services, nor the administration panel, nor the logs keep the password typed.

Three wrong passwords lock the nickname. Since 12 October 2026, three wrong attempts on the same nickname within 24 h — through IDENTIFY, GHOST, DROP, SUPPRIME or the website’s identification form — lock it for 15 minutes, then 30, 60… at each repeat, 24 hours at most; meanwhile, no attempt is examined. It is unlocked by: the end of the lock, logging in to one’s website account, a “forgotten password” carried through, or an operator from the panel.

Network operator access is checked, with no fallback. A command reserved for network operators is only granted if the connection typing it carries the operator status given by the server and has identified under that registered nickname. Being an operator without being identified is not enough, nor being identified without being an operator.
